Phases of the Project
Introduction
Sri Lanka Gateway Industries (SLGI) propose to develop an Industrial Park in multiple phases.

International consultants have been commissioned to provide a Conceptual Development Plan which integrates the possible land uses stated by SLGI, including rail, road, services corridors and the marine facilities required for import and export vessels.

  • CEB/NTPC Power Plant – 500 MW (2 Mtpa coal throughput)
  • SLGI Power Plant – 500 MW (2 Mtpa coal throughput)
  • 220 kV Substation and cooling water provisions for both power plants
  • Stockpile yard with sufficient capacity for Phase 1 and 2 coal and coke requirements
  • Coke Plant #1 – 2 Mtpa
  • Blended coal – 10 Mtpa
  • Set down area for future development for general cargo, construction materials and equipment and possibly some containerised cargo
  • Basic security administration facilities
  • Blended coal – 20 Mtpa
  • Iron Pelletisation Plant – 5 Mtpa
  • Coke Plant #2 – 3 Mtpa
  • Raw sugar – 0.5 Mtpa, refined sugar consumed in domestic market
  • Administration, corporate, accommodation, training and visitor’s facility
Adjacent to Phase 2, additional allotments are available for other land uses but are not detailed at this time
Additional land has been earmarked for other light, medium and heavy industries
